Born in Hellertown on February 15, 1898, Allen Woodring won Olympic Gold for the United States in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22 seconds during the 1920 Olympics games held in Antwerp, Belgium. Woodring lived in Hellertown and Bethlehem before moving to New York after his Olympic win.
