Responding to Potential Bullying Incidents

District protocol dictates that when incidents of bullying, name calling and insensitive remarks are reported to administration, they are investigated and handled as the specific situation dictates. In response to such incidents over the past several years, administrators have spoken with all students involved, parents and teachers and have then met with students and others as appropriate to discuss the behavior and consequences. Often counselors are involved as well to process through the situation with the students and to educate the students about the hurtfulness of their words. Additionally, there have been situations where the counselors have delivered classroom lessons and/or have met with small groups of students.

Safety is one of our district’s top priorities and to help safeguard our school community, we’ve taken an important step! The SVSD community uses SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration four different ways:

  1. Phone: 484-626-5254
  2. Text your tip to 484-626-5254
  3. Email: 1520@alert1.us
  4. Web: http://1520.alert1.us

You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, drugs, vandalism or any safety issue you're concerned about through SafeSchools Alert. Every tip SafeSchools Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. Tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer. In addition to safety issues, the system also allows you to submit Kudos to recognize someone for a job well done! Together, using SafeSchools Alert, we can make our district a safer place to work and learn!
