Mrs. Corinne Rivero
¡Hola Amigos! Me llamo Señora Rivero. Bienvenidos a mi clase de español. If you did not understand my opening line, don't worry. After a few weeks of my Spanish 1 class, you will have "no problema" understanding the Spanish language! I look forward to getting to know you as we explore the wonderful world of language learning together. Before we begin our linguistic and cultural journey, let me share a bit of background information about myself.
I have been teaching the Spanish language for the past 17 years in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I have taught the spectrum of Spanish language courses from elementary school through the university level! Although I love sharing my passion for travel and communication with all of my students, I have definitely found my niche in the 7th grade at Saucon Valley. Learning the Spanish language has opened so many doors for me in my life. From exilerating vacations, to exiting career opportunities, to living abroad in Costa Rica, mainland Spain, and the Canary Islands. More importantly, the ability to speak the Spanish language has enabled me to connect with wonderful people, students, and friends from across the globe, including my husband, Señor Rivero! Although I was not born speaking Spanish, I always had a passion to learn it. I studied abroad en La Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica as well as La Universidad de Valladolid, Spain. Combining my love of civics and international relations, I was selected to represent my university as an international intern in the Spanish Parliament. ¡Qué interesante!
When I am not teaching in the classroom, you can find me spending time with my family. Señor Rivero and I have an amazing daughter named Marisa. We love to spend family time together whether it be hiking in the Poconos, swimming at our neighborhood pool, or traveling and exploring the world together. We spend most of our summers visiting family spread out across Spain. When we are in the States we love to do road trips. Ask me about driving across country to California while exploring El Camino Real!
When arriving to class, keep in mind that learning a language is much more than memorizing words. It is an opportunity to learn about culture, art, cuisine, geography, holidays, dance, music, history and people. When learning about other cultures, you expand your knowledge of other cultures while gaining an even stronger appreciation of your own culture! As we say in the Spanish business, "Quien habla dos idiomas vale por dos." (A man who speaks two languages is worth two men.)
