Mr. Ryan McCann

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Hello, my name is Ryan McCann and I gladly welcome you and your child to my classroom this year. For the 2016-2017 school year, I will be teaching in a variety of settings in 8th grade. I co-teach with Mrs. Heppenheimer and Mr. Kreutzer for Language Arts period 1. For periods 2-4, I teach in my classroom for Academic Support Math and Language Arts. 5th period, I will be running a social skills group teaching students decision-making and how to appropriately act with their peers. I earned my Masters in Special Education from Waynesburg University in 2012, my Bachelors of Arts in Secondary Education and Bachelors of Science in History from East Stroudsburg University in 2008. I am currently working towards another Masters in Comparative and International Education at Lehigh University. I worked at Allegheny Valley School District in Pittsburgh, PA for five years teaching students with special needs in a variety of settings. I have worked at Saucon Valley School District for four years and taught in the elementary, middle, and high school levels in multiple grade levels and content areas.

I look forward to working with your child over the course of the school year and getting to know them more and more every day. I create a safe, trusting learning environment and encourage everyone to do his or her best. I go out of my way to get to know my students personal interests so I can use their interests to develop deeper connections to the material. 8th grade is a huge transition year for the students last year in middle school! With excellent communication and vigilant monitoring, we can make it a memorable year for your child. The quickest way to contact me is through e-mail, but I do prefer phone conversations. Take care and we will have a great school year!
