Bus Safety & Conduct
Please talk with your children regularly about staying safely seated while the bus is in motion and carefully listening to the directions of their driver.
If your child experiences an issue with another student on the vehicle, they should inform the driver immediately when exiting. Drivers handle situations directly or file a official conduct report to building administration.
View Transportation Rules & Discipline Policy →Flashing Red Lights Law
To ensure student safety, all motorists are strictly required by law to stop in all directions when a school bus activates its flashing red lights and extended stop arm.
Vehicles must remain completely stationary until the flashing red lights are deactivated. Violations are automatically tracked and may result in penalization fines up to $300 and immediate driver's license suspension for up to 3 months.

General Operating Procedures
- Rural Route Stops: Household mailboxes must be clearly and legibly marked on both sides with large, highly visible residential house numbers.
- Bus Stop Parking Restrictions: Per explicit directives from Hellertown & Lower Saucon Police Departments, cars parked illegally inside marked "No Parking" zones will be immediately ticketed. Please keep clear zones entirely open for school bus navigation, loading, and unloading.
- Arrival Window: Students should be waiting at their designated neighborhood stop location at least 10 minutes prior to scheduled pickup.
- Assigned Route Integrity: Students are permitted to ride their assigned bus route exclusively. Outside route changes to ride home to friends' houses or alternative locations cannot be accommodated.
Kindergarten & 1st Grade Requirements
Parents must clearly mark their student's full name, home address, and unique bus stop routing reference firmly inside their school backpack.
Strict Drop-Off Mandate: No Kindergarten or 1st-grade student will be discharged from the vehicle at any neighborhood bus stop unless a verified parent, guardian or designated adult is physically present at the doors. If a supervisor is missing at the stop, the student will be securely retained on the route and returned directly to the Elementary School Office for emergency parent pickup.
