Bethlehem, PA -- Our middle school musicians made their mark at the recent Nitschmann Middle School Jazz Fest. Competing against nine other local middle schools, the SVMS Jazz Band delivered a standout performance that earned them an Excellent rating and several prestigious accolades.
The ensemble’s collective talent was on full display as they took home the “Overall Best Brass Section” award, which distinguished them as the top brass performers of the entire festival.
In addition to the band’s collective success, several performers received special recognition for their technical skill and artistry:

Best Section Award: The Trombone Section was honored as the best school section of the night, anchoring the band’s sound with precision and power.

Best Soloist Award: Simon Lama received the individual Best School Soloist award for a captivating performance that impressed the panel of judges.
