Four students wearing professional attire have medals around their neck and smile after being named winners

Bethlehem, PA -- On Friday, March 13, 42 students represented the district at the East Penn Model UN simulation held at Lehigh University.

The event brought together student delegates from across the region for a full day of debate, collaboration and problem-solving centered on real-world global issues.

Kristen Lussier and Violet Whitley served in leadership roles, successfully chairing the Committee on Women & Children and guiding delegates through structured discussion and resolution writing. Their preparation and facilitation helped ensure a productive and engaging experience for all participants.

Students represented a range of committees throughout the simulation; including Environmental, Social & Humanitarian and Security Council.

Four delegates earned individual recognition for their work.

  • Vaughn Kaye (Environmental Committee) and Sara Bocchini (Social & Humanitarian Committee) were recognized for drafting well-constructed and substantive resolutions.
  • Nitya Thakkar (Environmental Committee) and Ryan Pakzad (Security Council) received honors for their diplomatic skill, collaboration and effectiveness in committee debate.

Participation in Model UN provides students with valuable experience in research, public speaking, negotiation and consensus-building.
