Virginia Kraus is a force to be reckoned with -- not only when running but in the classroom, too.

Hellertown, PA -- Virginia Kraus isn't just finishing her high school career at the top of the podium—she’s finishing it in the history books.

For the second year in a row, the Saucon Valley senior has been named the Gatorade Pennsylvania Girls Cross Country Player of the Year. The announcement comes on the heels of a historic season that cemented Kraus's legacy not only in Hellertown, but across Pennsylvania.

A Historic Run

Kraus capped off her high school cross country career by doing something no one else has: becoming the first four-time PIAA Class AA state champion in history. She didn’t just win; she dominated. Kraus set a new meet record with a time of 17:48.0, crossing the finish line a massive 38 seconds ahead of the runner-up.

Her dominance extended well beyond Pennsylvania borders:

  • 2nd Place: Brooks Northeast Regional Championships (First Team All-Region)

  • 10th Place: Brooks Cross Country National Championships (Second Team All-American)

"The author of a near-perfect regular season, a state meet record and representing the state’s top performer at nationals, Virginia Kraus remained Pennsylvania’s dominant distance competitor for a second year running," said Rich Gonzalez, Editor of PrepCalTrack. "She’s going to be a force in the Ivy League sooner than later."

Excellence Beyond the Course

While her running stats are staggering, Kraus has been just as impactful in the classroom and the community. She currently maintains a 4.5 weighted GPA and has already committed to continue her academic and athletic career at Dartmouth College this fall.

In her downtime, Virginia remains a fixture in local service. Her volunteer work includes:

  • Animal Advocacy: Assisting staff at the Center for Animal Health and Welfare.

  • Mentorship: Serving as a math tutor for fellow Saucon Valley students.

  • Youth Sports: Coaching for the "Try Hockey for Free" program.

  • Conservation: Building and maintaining local trail systems with the Valley Mountain Bikers.

Saucon Valley School District is incredibly proud of Virginia's accomplishments, and we look forward to cheering her on as she heads to the Ivy League!
