A sunny day with dozens of students posing in the grass

Allentown, PA -- So much is happening at Saucon Valley!

Earlier this week, second graders took a field trip to the Museum of Indian Culture in Allentown.

There, they learned about the Lenni Lenape history and way of life. Students discovered how the Lenape respected nature and used all parts of the animal for food, clothing, toys, and tools. Students saw local artifacts, too. Some students loved learning about games and the housing of the tribe. Others enjoyed seeing the cradle board they used to carry around babies.

The whole experience connected the "Expansion of the West" to the Lehigh Valley's history. It brought history home and Native American culture to life!

Saucon Valley School District is proud to offer these types of learning opportunities to our students.
