It was a week of bright colors, positive affirmations and kindness. Saucon Valley extends its gratitude to the elementary counselors who organized five days of "Kind Hearts, Strong Schools."

Hellertown, PA -- During the week of February 2–6, 2026, SVES celebrated National School Counselor Week with a Spirit Week centered on the theme “Kind Hearts, Strong Schools.”

The week focused on promoting kindness, inclusion, gratitude and positive self-reflection. Students and staff participated in themed days, schoolwide challenges and activities designed to highlight the impact of school counseling and the importance of caring for one another.

The celebration began with Mindful Monday. The message, “Be Kind to Yourself,” encouraged students to focus on self-care and positive self-talk. Many students arrived wearing outfits that made them feel comfortable and confident. Throughout the day, students were reminded to say three positive affirmations to themselves before school. During lunch periods for grades two through four, students shared positive affirmations on camera.

Thankful Tuesday focused on gratitude with the theme “Gratitude LIGHTS Up Our School.” Classes participated in Bright Color Day. Students were challenged to list three things or people they were thankful for.

Wellness Wednesday emphasized “Kindness Through Inclusion.” Students participated in Mix-It-Up seating and activities at lunch, where they strived to make new friends and have kind conversations. Many students wore athletic gear or sweatpants to promote comfort and wellness.

Thoughtful Thursday centered on the message “Choose Kind Words.” Students were encouraged to wear shirts with positive sayings such as “Just Do It” or “Be Kind.” Throughout the day, students wrote and drew PAWS-itive sayings and expressions on sticky notes and placed them on the windows. This resulted in a literal display of kindness. Teachers also distributed Kindness Paw Passes to recognize those students going above and beyond to display positive behavior.

The week concluded with Friendly Friday with the theme “Kindness in Action.” Students celebrated SVES pride by wearing red and black or matching outfits with friends. The day reinforced the idea that kindness is something we should exemplify each day.

Special thanks and recognition to Counselors Kelly Wehr and Joanna Suriel, who dedicate so much time, energy and compassion to their workings with students. They organized the week and are a pivotal part of SVES!
