Unified Bocce Fans in the Stands event unites students and community and support an inclusive community.

Hellertown, PA -- Saucon Valley School District is once again reminded of the power of community following its Unified Bocce Fans in the Stands event. Community members, students and staff came out to support the team -- in turn, showing what makes the school community so special.

Unified Bocce is about far more than competition. It brings students of all abilities together in an environment rooted in teamwork, respect and encouragement. The team consists of a mix of athletes and partners. The underlying principle is that athletes with intellectual disabilities and partners without disabilities train and compete together.

Events like Fans in the Stands highlight the importance of inclusion. They allow student-athletes to showcase their skills and demonstrate the meaningful bonds they have forged with their peers. Overall, participation in Unified Boccee and other Unified Sports is known to improve physical fitness and boost players' confidence and self-esteem.

We are proud of our Unified Bocce athletes and the mission of the program—to create inclusive school communities where every student is valued, supported and celebrated.

Thank you to the families, staff and fans who showed up and helped make the day a success.
