An award rests atop a table with blurred children in the background
Bethlehem, PA -- What’s so cool about manufacturing? This Saucon Valley Middle School team. 😎

Saucon Valley Middle School students earned the top honor at the regional "What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?" competition, taking home the coveted award for Outstanding Overall Program. Out of 30 middle schools across Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties, our Panthers stood out for their exceptional work featuring local manufacturer Crayola.

The awards ceremony, held on March 25, 2026, was a massive community event. More than 1,100 people packed Lehigh University’s Stabler Convocation and Events Center to celebrate the students' hard work, while viewers at home cast a staggering 321,908 online votes over just three days. As one of the top four winning teams in the region, Saucon Valley will now move on to represent the Lehigh Valley at the statewide competition this May.

Superintendent Jaime Vlasaty and the administrative team were grateful for the chance to congratulate the students in person and hear about the creative process behind their winning video.

As an added highlight, the students and their advisors were featured in a WFMZ news segment recognizing the achievement.

Well done, Panthers.👏🏼 And congratulations to all of the students from across the Lehigh Valley who took part!
