Hellertown / Saucon Valley Athletics
The history of Hellertown / Saucon Valley High School Athletics began in 1918 when Baseball took the field as the first school based sport. Mr. Robert Hoppes, a teacher at Hellertown High School organized the baseball team and would later start the Boys Soccer team at Hellertown High School as well. By the mid 1930's Basketball started at Hellertown for both Boys and Girls. During World War II some sports at the school stopped while the country concentrated on the war effort. As time progressed, more sports were added and the Athletic Department continued to grow. Saucon Valley High School added its 15th and most recent sport, Lacrosse, in 2009.
Since 1918, Hellertown / Saucon Valley athletic teams have won 127 team championships of which 90 are League Championships, 35 District Championships, 1 Regional Championship (2019 Wrestling), and 1 PIAA State Championship when Wrestling won the 1976 PIAA AAA Championship.
