District residents will have the option to pay per capita and real estate taxes by mail to a post office box address in Bangor, or in person at any Lafayette Ambassador Bank branch.

* Interim Real Estate Tax bills will also be accepted at these locations.

The 2008-2009 per capita and real estate tax bill notices will be accompanied by a cover letter of instructions. The real estate tax bills will consist of two pages, the first page will be the taxpayer copy and full payment or 1st installment coupon, and the second page will be the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th installment coupons.

The real estate tax bill is in five parts and will contain the following:

  • The Full Payment or First Installment section allows for payment in full or for the first installment payment to be made on or before October 6, 2008.
  • The Second Installment section is for payment to be made on or before December 5, 2008.
  • The Third Installment section is for payment to be made on or before February 5, 2009.
  • The Fourth Installment section is for payment to be made on or before April 6, 2009.
  • The Taxpayer Copy is the top section of the real estate bill on which the property owner may note payment date(s).

Important Note
If paying on the installment plan, payments must be made in ordinal order (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th). That is, the second installment will not be accepted unless the first installment has been paid. The third installment will not be accepted until the second installment is paid, etc.

Important Legal Notice to Saucon Valley School District Residents Eighteen Years of Age or Older

Every resident or inhabitant of the Saucon Valley School District upon attaining eighteen years of age and every person eighteen years of age or over becoming a resident or inhabitant of the Saucon Valley School District shall notify the Saucon Valley School District Business Office of their becoming of age or becoming a resident or inhabitant. Any person failing to notify the Business Office of the Saucon Valley School District shall in addition to the tax levied by the Saucon Valley School District be liable to the Saucon Valley School District in a penal sum equal to such tax.

All 2008 - 2009 School Per Capita Tax Bills will be mailed in July 2008. Residents or inhabitants of the Saucon Valley School District who did not receive a Per Capita Tax Bill shall comply with this legal notice by notifying the school district at:

YOUR SAUCON VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT PER CAPITA TAXES are now due and payable. Request for payment of these taxes is hereby made in accordance with the Local Tax Enabling Act of 1965 known as Act No. 511 and under the Section 679 of the School Code Act of 1949. Failure to receive a per capita tax bill does not excuse or delay payment of taxes or avoid any penalty, interest or charge for such delay. (Purdon’s Statute, 72 Section 5511.7). Make check payable to SVSD-PC.

DO NOT COMBINE REAL ESTATE AND PER CAPITA PAYMENTS ON ONE CHECK.

RESIDENTS OF SAUCON VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT, eighteen (18) years of age or older are obligated to pay a per capita tax bill as provided by Act No. 193.

ADDRESS CHANGES are the taxpayer’s responsibility. If there is a change of address, please notify the Saucon Valley School District Business Office Tax Clerk at 2097 Polk Valley Rd., Hellertown, PA 18055, (610) 838-7001 Ext. 1110.

Your cancelled check is your receipt or send in a (#10) self-addressed stamped envelope with your remittance for a return receipt.

PAYABLE IN PERSON by presenting the entire tax bill at any Lafayette Ambassador Bank.

TO AVOID THE LOSS of discount or incurring a penalty, your payment must be received by the bank or if you mail your payment, your envelope must be postmarked by the post office on or before the due date indicated. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO THIS POLICY.

Unpaid taxes shall be subject to wage attachment and other appropriate legal procedures.

EXONERATION REQUIREMENTS: "Any single individual eighteen (18) years of age and older, with a total income of ten thousand ($10,000) dollars or less, or a married couple with a total combined income of twenty thousand ($20,000) dollars or less be exonerated from the payment of the Per Capita Tax under Act 511 and under School Code Section 679."
In order to be eligible for exoneration, an application must be completed every year.

DOCUMENTATION MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE APPLICATION BEFORE BOARD APPROVAL:
1. A copy of a prior year's federal income tax return, or if a federal return was not required to be filed, copies of social security, disability or other non-taxable income statements
OR
2. A copy of proof of attendance or registration to a college or school as a full-time student for the current year.

"Exoneration applications are available at the Business Office or if you wish to have one mailed to you, you must send in a self-addressed, stamped envelope requesting the form(s). **See application for deadline date to file for exoneration.** The District will not automatically mail  these applications to you."

The Saucon Valley School District’s 2008-2009 Real Estate Tax Bills will be mailed to property owners in July 2008. "The 2008 fiscal tax year begins July 1, 2008 and ends June 30, 2009."

If you do not receive your tax bill, or if you receive tax bills other than your own, please contact the Saucon Valley School District Business Office at (610) 838-7001 EXT. 1110.

Pennsylvania Tax Collection Law states that taxpayers are not relieved from the payment of real estate taxes for failure to receive a tax bill.

Real Estate tax bills will only be mailed directly to the property owner and it is their responsibility to forward the tax bills to the proper agencies for payment.

THE INSTALLMENT PLAN is provided for your convenience. TO INDICATE THE CHOICE OF QUARTERLY INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS, Installment #1 must be paid on or before the due date indicated. Failure to pay Installment #1 removes the option of installment payments. Pay the amounts indicated for each installment by the corresponding due dates. A penalty of 10% will be added to each delinquent installment. Payment of penalties may be avoided under this plan by having your payment made or your envelope postmarked by the post office on or before the respective due date. No discounts are allowed on installment payments.
