Attention - Update October 29, 2009
The Saucon Valley Education Association and the Saucon Valley School Board have been meeting the past three days in an attempt to resolve the contract dispute.

The parties have agreed to conceptual understandings relative to the issues in dispute which we trust will result in a contract agreement.

As a result, the Saucon Valley Education Association has voted to return to work on Friday, October 30th.  Meetings will continue in order to finalize an agreement which both parties would need to vote upon and approve.

Strike Update – October 20, 2009
There has been no indication that the strike will run any shorter than the maximum length as noted in the calendar by PDE. At this time the PDE calendar indicates that the association can strike until November 10th with the return of students on the 11th. Please continue to make appropriate day care arrangements for your children. If there is any change you would be notified immediately.

The indicated November 11th return date means that the last day of school would be by June 15th. The association reserves the right to strike a second time and the length of that strike can only be as long as to move the last day of school until June 30th (approximately 10 days).

I know there are many questions about holidays and the calendar. I am working on a revised calendar and will have this available soon so that you can see the impact the strike days have on the usual scheduled holidays. Remember this revised calendar would only hold true for the first amount of strike days. It would need to be revised if a second strike would take place. Any snow days would also need to be added to the end of the year past the June 15th date.
