A Reminder to All Parents from the Nurses:
Although it is the end of the school year it is already time to start thinking about preparing for next year. Please open and print the attached form if your child will be needing medication during the school year. All medications, even over the counter such as ibuprofen requires a doctor’s signature as well as a parent signature as indicated on the form. This is our school policy and the law. Completing the form for a med such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen before the start of the school year assures that the nurses can give your child the med when a headache or cramps arise.

Also, state law requires all students entering Kindergarten (or 1st), 6th and 11th grades to have a completed physical examination on record. The attached form must be used. Physicals done over the summer can be faxed directly to the nurses. Please be sure to keep a copy for yourself.

Finally, school law requires all Kindergarten, 3rd and 7th graders to have a dental report on file. Please use the attached form and fax or mail to the nurses over the summer. Extra forms are available in the office over the summer.

Forms:
SVSD Medication Dispensing Form
Physical Examination Form
Dental Examination Form

Thank you very much for your cooperation. Have a wonderful, safe summer!

Saucon Valley Middle School Student Advisory Program
Starting January 9th and meeting approximately twice per month for the remainder of the 2007-08 school year - The Saucon Valley Middle School Student Advisory Program introduces a school-based adult advocate into the life of every student for the purpose of fostering academic success, personal growth, and citizenship.

The goals of the Saucon Valley Middle School Advisory Program are to:
  • ensure that each student has a staff advocate
  • provide a forum for topics relevant to adolescents in today's world
  • create a safe, friendly place to receive support and modeling for academic pursuits and social interaction
  • promote coordination between home and school

Morning Student Drop Off
A reminder to everyone that students are not to be dropped off at the school prior to 7:10 AM.  Supervision of students is not available before 7:10 AM.

Also, please be aware as you are dropping off students, to wait in the drop off line and not pull out to the LEFT.  This causes an unsafe drop off situation.

If you find that your child has a project, equipment, etc.,  park your car in the lot and cross at the cross walk.

It is important that AM drop off be organized and safe.

Your cooperation and patience is appreciated!

Student ID Cards

Some things to remember:
1. Your Identification Card (ID) is to be worn at all times around the neck on the RED district approved lanyard.

2. You should hang the lanyard with the ID in your locker at the end of the day IF you do not need to get on the 3:10 or 4:00 bus.

3. You will need the ID to gain access to the 3:10 or 4:00 bus

4. The ID will be necessary if you wish to purchase lunch. Pin numbers will no longer be used.

5. The ID will be necessary for entrance to any Middle School Dances (NO EXCEPTIONS)

6. If you are found to NOT be wearing the ID or if you come to school without it, you should report to the office immediately.

7. Replacement IDs are $5.00 and available in the Middle School Office by contacting Ms Rieger.

8. Eventually the ID will be used for checking books out of the Library.

Remember—It is your responsibility to have the ID and wear it EACH day!

Respect
These are three words that will serve as the cornerstone for our work with the children this year at Saucon Valley Middle School.

They are the expectations for our learning community in regard to academics, behavior and social development. We expect our learners to:

  • Come prepared to class every day.
  • Have assignments done ON TIME.
  • Avoid disruptive behavior in class, hallways, cafeteria and throughout the school.
As always, we appreciate the support we receive from our families in reinforcing these, what appear to be common, everyday words, but will help to encourage skills that students will carry with them throughout their life.
