Reflections of 2009 and More…
Plans began in January for a
Dinner/Vintage Fashion Show at Silver Creek Country Club for
April 24. This event was co-sponsored by the SVAA
and the Lower Saucon Historical Society. On May 16,
SVAA met on the Iron Pigs Party Porch to cheer on our Pigs
as well as reconnect with our alumni. Over the weekend of
May 29th, the SVAA donated and served food
at the annual “Relay for Life” in Dimmick Park. June 28
proved that summer was present as we enjoyed setting up the
SVAA tent at the Farmer’s Market on Water Street and talking
with alumni and residents. August 10: Back to the
Iron Pigs Party Porch! August 22: “Community Day”
was a washout, but SVAA plans to be there in 2010.
It seemed to rain every Friday night in
time for our home football games, so SVAA only set up our
tent 3 times to sell popcorn and added new to our menu,
“Tacos in a Bag.” SVAA’s “Candle Sale” was profitable,
while the rain spoiled the annual Hellertown Halloween
Parade and our volunteer efforts to assist with parade
set-up. SVAA plans to be there next year! On
November 1, Alumni, family, and
friends boarded our sponsored bus trip to NYC to see “Jersey
Boys.” What a fantastic day for all!
The year isn’t over yet, and SVAA
continues to plan into 2010 with the following for all
alumni, family, and friends:
